TPS: What does the name of the series mean?

The style I want to give to my artworks is defined by my shapes.

I want to portray the moment in which my models are fighting to overcome fears.

They are wrapped in these feelings, and my shapes are their key to freedom or the very same obstacles tying them down.

TPS: What inspired the series?

I wanted to give a stronger effect to my digital paintings, so I had to take a deeper look at the personality of my models.

In these series I selected Helena (left and center) and Anne (right).

They are very natural in what I needed to portray, in this case, self-assured women.

TPS: What are you currently doing in terms of client work?

I have been commissioned to do several artworks and continuing to work on the development of my style for the use in various mediums – e.g. portraits, album covers, comics.

TPS: What do you want to do in the design industry?

London is the heart of Europe and I want to experience all the different fields to have a full understanding of the design industry.

I’m always looking for new challenges and inspiring jobs.

TPS: What other personal project have you got going on?

I have a new series in mind in which my models are completely designed with my shapes to capture the contrast between good and evil.

TPS: Who are your influences?

It’s hard to say, I don’t have one specific influence. Thanks to my mother I learned about art, so most of my passion for design comes from her.

I can tell you who I admire: Alberto Seveso (for his beautiful portraits) and Scott Hansen(for those incredible modern old style designs).

TPS: What programs did you use to make these?

Photoshop and illustrators are my favourite tools!

TPS: Are you available for Freelance inquires?

Yes, in this particular moment I’m available, especially if I find the project challenging!

TPS: What does the name of the series mean?

Arcadia and Splendoria are metaphoric descriptions of those wonderful beings called women
and all the visual joy they bring.
“Entity” is the title for the set of mythological and religious gods. Odin represents the old
tales from the Norse Edda. Shiva is part of the Hinduism and Ceremonious stands for the ancient
faith of the Celts.

TPS: What inspired the series?

Arcadia and Splendoria are inspired by modern and contemporary fashion illustrations, while
“Entity” is the attempt to create a new way of showing mythological or religious deities with
no cultural connections and backgrounds.

TPS: What are you currently doing in terms of client work?

At the moment I mostly work with bands from Germany and the States. I create conceptional
artworks for their album releases and help them establish an unique and recognisalbe appreance.

TPS: What do you want to do in the design industry?

I’m quite happy to be able to work with more and more bands and I definitely would like to
pursue this even more in the future.

TPS: What other personal project have you got going on?

Right now I’m happy that there is enough to do working on official projects for bands. The “Entity”
series was the last personal project I did – it was originally for the Illustrative award called “Young
Illustrators Award” – but sadly it didn’t make it. But I’m still totally proud of how it turned out.

TPS: Who are your influences?

There are different styles I really like. On one hand I’m a total addict to typography and love to
do hand lettering. Here once again I would like to mention Hydro74, Maxx242 for example.
Tattoo artworks are definitely a big influence too. On the other hand I really like the
work of small creative design studios like Invisible Creature or Studio K. But in the end every
movie or book can be a great influence…

TPS: What programs did you use to make these?

I mostly use Photoshop and Illustrator to create my artworks.

TPS: Are you available for Freelance inquires?

Sure! I’m always available by mail and would be glad to help on any ambitious design/illustration project.

TPS: What inspired the series?
It is a look at the rights for which women fought back a while ago. A reflection on how those rights were transformed into demands to them, transforming them into beings multifunctional and imposing enormous pressure of social success, beauty and intelligence.

TPS: What are you currently doing in terms of client work?
Currently I am working for some web design projects.

TPS: What do you want to do in the design industry?
I would like to produce my own ideas. I have many ideas in different fields of design. From web design and the net-art, passing through the device-art until the editorial design and design of interactive installations.

TPS: What other personal project have you got going on?
Now I’m in the process of printing a series of digital collages that compose my work. I want to expose the series soon in my city.

TPS: Who are your influences?
Jorge Restrepo, an excepecional colombian visual artist, Eduardo Recife; off course and my girlfriend, who moves my heart and makes me think.

None, totally handmade.
TPS: What does the name of the series mean?
Utero means… utero! Life, love, feelings, subtlety, micro and macro cosmos… All those things we can’t really explain.

TPS: What inspired the series?
I was studying organics shapes for a side project I have with two friends and I decided to explore this idea along with other elements from my work library. The result is a mix of liquid images and organic shapes that look like an uterine x-ray.

TPS: What are you currently doing in terms of client work?
I work as art director in an advertising agency and I response to the development of visual identities, logotypes, packaging and ad-campaigns. Beside to that I design to art galleries and music artists, djs, etc.

TPS: What do you want to do in the design industry?
Good jobs to good people with good ideas!

TPS: What other personal project have you got going on?
I have a few side projects in progress with two others friends. They are involved with photograpy and conceptual art. Soon these projects will be shown – and well known… I hope! : )

TPS: Who are your influences?
My greatest influences don’t come from people, but things in general. I observe live introspectively and I want to create with things that don’t really seem possible to be used as influence.

TPS: What programs did you use to make these?
I used Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

TPS: What does the name of the series mean?

Actually I haven´t come with a name. I think it would be something like “Agony”. It refers to waiting times, hoping to end but not at all.

TPS: What inspired the series?
Dead times than can be found in many forms, such as file cabinets or slide photographs. Times that are sealed in a moment and you can´t get out of.

TPS: What are you currently doing in terms of client work?
At the moment I am doing specially print work, suck I brochures, blisters and packaging for two direct clients.

TPS: What do you want to do in the design industry?
I started developing websites, but now I´m working with print projects most of all.
Anyways, I always try new formats, specially to find what best fits me as a designer.

TPS: What other personal project have you got going on?
I am still a college student, so I split my time between class and work. I try to find time to illustrate now and then too, but nothing particular.

TPS: Who are your influences?
I really like digging in the web, searching for new styles. I think diversity in a designer is really important, that´s why I always look for different influences.

Scott Hansen was one of the first designers that influenced me.
Alberto Cerriteño was another. I have always felt very identified with his work.

I have always admired Si Scott work. The work of “You are beautiful” studio is very interesting too. I love how Stefan Sagmeister is always breaking the boundaries of design.

There are many design groups here in Argentina which were direct referents in my first designs as well, such as FASE or DOMA.

TPS: What programs did you use to make these?
Most of it was done in Photoshop, with some elements done in Illustrator.

TPS: Are you available for Freelance inquires?
I divide my time between college and work, and try to do personal things in my spare time. But I am always open to hear new project proposals.

TPS: What does the name of the series mean?
It is clever word play right? Landscape and land escapes – maybe it sounded more clever when I thought of it.

TPS: What inspired the series?
I was thinking about landscapes and children and isolation – and how escaping can be seen in two ways and the difference between wanting to be alone and isolation.

TPS: What are you currently doing in terms of client work?
I am working at an interactive agency in Raleigh called Brooks-Bell Interactive and my own portfolio site is www.vertebraedesign.net – but I have not updated that in a long time.

TPS: What do you want to do in the design industry?
I want to keep pushing design forward while still meeting the demands of the project at hand. Is that an answer? That is a terrible answer!

TPS: Who are your influences?
Well there are tons of course. Growing up I was influenced mainly by german artists, I was in love artists as diverse as Kurt Schwitters, Gerhard Richter and Anselm Kiefer.

In terms of designers working today I know this will not be a surprise to anyone but these people are really doing interesting things

Scott Hansen: www.iso50.com
Joshua Davis: www.joshuadavis.com
Chris Ryan: www.atmostheory.com
Christopher Cox : www.changethethought.com

There are of course many many more. I am also a huge fan of what both bittbox.com and Go Media are doing in building a really great online community that inspires both budding designers and season veterans a like.

TPS: What programs did you use to make these?

Illustrator mostly with some photo manipulation in Photoshop – but my goal is to stop using Illustrator all together for the next three months and dive more deeply into Photoshop.

Matthew used to run Vertebrae Design for 5 years where he focused on small to medium media and entertainment driven companies, before the lure of working for a dynamic corporate studio with larger clients drew him out of office and into the corporate world.

TPS: Are you available for Freelance inquires?

No, I am currently working full time and my free time is dedicated to my own personal projects

TPS: What does the name of the series mean?
DQ: The series is called “Sensuality Series”. The idea behind it was to portray female sensuality as a variable thing. Women can be sensual in very different states and here I tried to show three of them: Cute, Elegant and Hard.

TPS: What inspired the series?
DQ: Women. I think women are an infinite source of inspiration.

TPS: What are you currently doing in terms of client work?
DQ: I’m doing some t-shirts for a company from Thailand and setting up a few websites for some companies back in my country.

TPS: What do you want to do in the design industry?
DQ: I’d really like to work as an art director someday. But also I’d like to try out as much stuff as I can. I’m really into print these days and I’m trying to sort of leave the digital-only world. Nothing like seeing your work printed out nicely.

TPS: What other personal project have you got going on?
DQ: I’m doing several collab works with different designers from all over. Setting up a project for chilean designers, but it’s still in early stages, so can’t tell you much about that, but be on the lookout.

TPS: Who are your influences?
DQ: I’m always kinda “on the spot” with this question, ’cause the influence list for me is huge.Just to name a few, but in no case the only ones: Alberto Seveso, Mike Orduña, Pete Harrison, Nelson Balaban, Radim Malinic, etc, etc.Still, they’re in no way the only ones. the list is practically infinite. too many hot designers out there.

TPS: What Programs did you use to make these?
DQ: I used Photoshop CS2 on practically everything. Except for the fragments deattaching from the girls, which I made in Cinema4D.

TPS: Are you available for Freelance inquires?
DQ: I’m currently going to college, so intense freelance work gets pretty tricky. But still, I’m always up for new projects.
